Grab your fascinators and your diplomatic passports—the most anticipated sequel in royal rom-com history is officially in production.

Amazon MGM Studios has confirmed that cameras are rolling on Red, White & Royal Wedding, the follow-up to the 2023 global phenomenon Red, White & Royal Blue. While fans have been buzzing about the sequel since it was greenlit last year, the studio just dropped a major update: almost the entire original ensemble is heading back to the palace.

The Return of Alex and Henry (and the President!)

The sequel sees Nicholas Galitzine (Prince Henry) and Taylor Zakhar Perez (Alex Claremont-Diaz) reprising their roles as the star-crossed lovers who went from international rivals to the world’s favorite couple.

But they aren’t alone. In a move that has delighted fans, Amazon confirmed that Oscar-nominee Uma Thurman will return as U.S. President Ellen Claremont. Other returning favorites include:

    • Clifton Collins Jr. as Oscar Diaz
    • Sarah Shahi as Zahra Bankston
    • Stephen Fry as King James III
    • Rachel Hilson as Nora Holleran
    • Ellie Bamber as Princess Beatrice

    Whose Wedding is it, Anyway?

Despite the title Red, White & Royal Wedding, the lead actors have already teased fans with a bit of a plot twist. In a behind-the-scenes video shared to Instagram, Galitzine and Perez clarified that they are actually filming for the wedding of Princess Beatrice (Ellie Bamber).

“We just wanted to clarify… we’re not getting married,” Galitzine joked in the video. “That’s a long ways off at this point.”

New Faces and a New Director

While most of the gang is back, there are some fresh faces joining the fray. Henry Ashton (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms) and Alex Høgh Andersen (Vikings) have joined the cast in undisclosed roles.

The sequel also sees a change behind the camera. While the first film’s director, Matthew López, is returning as a writer and producer, the directing baton has been passed to Jamie Babbit. Known for the queer cult classic But I’m a Cheerleader and her work on Only Murders in the Building, Babbit’s comedic flair is expected to bring a new energy to the franchise.

The script is a collaborative effort between original author Casey McQuiston, López, and Gemma Burgess.

    When Can We Watch?

While a specific release date hasn’t been set, the start of production in January 2026 suggests a late 2026 or early 2027 premiere on Prime Video.
